Following Saturdays are called Purattaasi Sani : 2012 Sept.22, 29, Oct.6 & 13 . (4 Saturdays).
Purattasi Sani is special holy days for worshipping Navagrahas. These planetary deities play a significant role in our lives in the following aspects as given below:
Sun: Governs confidence, authority and status;
Moon: Presiding deity of mind and emotions;
Sevai or Angarakan: Governs courage and bravery and presides over health and siblings.
Budha: Mercury Presides over intelligence and capacities of teaching;
Viyalan or Guru: Presiding deity of religious inclination and prosperity and married life of women;
Velli or Sukran: Venus presides over comforts, arts, culture, aesthetics and love;
Sani: Presiding deity of longevity, calamities and difficulties apart from spiritual wisdom;
Rahu & Kethu: Presiding deities of worldly desires and moksha (freedom).
To seek relief from any negative aspect of Sani Bhagawan and enhance general welfare, we worship Navagraha on Purattasi Sani days by lighting of a ‘Chutti’ with black sesame seeds wrapped in black cloth to burn in sesame seed oil. These are available at the Sivan temple counter.
Temple will be kept opened from 9.00AM to 9.00PM on Purattasi Sani days for the convenient of devotees.
