Temple News : OTTAWA SIVAN TEMPLE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING -2012

Ottawa Sivan Temple’s Annual General Meeting and Election to fill up to five (5) Board of Directors positions will take place on Saturday February 25, 2012 at 4.00 PM at Ottawa Sivan Temple Premises.
Members (defined by the Temple Constitution By-law), who have contributed annually $250.00 as donation or sponsored day pooja/s (at least in 2011) are eligible to participate and vote in the AGM.

AGENDA of the AGM is as follows:

Dear Devotee,
The all mighty, “Vallavambika Sri Thaiyal Naayaki Sametha Vaithiyanaatha Swami” has blessed us to conduct the Fourth Annual High Festival at the Sivan Temple in North Gower, beginning on Friday the 8-July-2011 with “Kodiaeta” Festival and to end on 18-July-2011 Monday with “Thirukalyaanam / Poongaavanam” Festival.

Temple News : “Khara” Tamil New Year

“Khara” Tamil New Year begins at 2.30 AM on Thursday April 14, 2011. On that day, Tamil New Year special Abisheka and Poojas will be held at Temple at 12.00 Noon and 8.00 PM. Prasatham will be served to devotees after the special poojas.
Sivan Temple will be kept opened from 9.00 AM to 9.00PM on Tamil New Year Day. Devotees are requested to visit temple wearing new clothes and jewellery and pray Vaitheeswaran for His blessings to lead happy and prosperous life throughout the year.
From April 12, 2011 Tuesday evening onwards, “Maruththu Neer” (medicated water) will be made available for devotees at the Temple .

NOTICE OF ELECTION & ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING Ottawa Sivan Temple’s Annual General Meeting and Election to fill up to five (5) Directors will take place on Friday August 27, 2010 at 7.00 PM at Walter Baker Centre Room 202 Members (defined by the Temple By-law, those who have contributed annually at least $250.00 as donation or as sponsors of day pooja(s)) are eligible to participate in the AGM. We have made copies of the Financial Statements for consultation by all members of the temple. Temple News : CALLING FOR NOMINATIONS FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

THE NOMINATION COMMITTEE IS SOLICITING NOMINATIONS FOR THE 5 NEW MEMBERS OF BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR A TERM OF TWO YEARS:
Eligible members must fill out and submit nomination form(s) by no later than August 14th midnight to the Temple or by email to ottawasivantemple@yahoo.ca with subject line "Nominations" to announce their intent to run for the above positions.
Guidelines from the constitution:
Article 44 states: To become eligible for the Board of Directors, at least a Patron member , Grand Patron, Benefactor or Grand Benefactor members shall serve as Temple volunteer for two (2) years
“Patron” means a member who pays the cumulative membership dues of Thousand dollars ($1000.00) as of August 14th midnight
The nomination form is also available at the Temple. Their names of the nomination committee are listed below.

Vairavar Madai – Saturday July 17th, 2010
To mark the end of the Alangara Utsavam 2010, Vairavar Madai a special pooja for Lord Gnana Bhairavar will be performed at Ottawa Sivan Temple. On this day Pirayachiththa Abishekam will start at 6pm followed by Pooja at 8pm. Devotees who likes to do Pongal or offer vadai malai to Lord Gnana Bhairavar on this day , please contact the Temple . We like all the devotees to come to the Temple on this day and get blessings from Lord Gnana Bhairavar

Thank You - High Festival
The Board of Directors of the Ottawa Sivan Temple would like to sincerely thank all of the individuals and their families who have helped us in making the occasion of our third Alankara Utsavam a grand success. Our heartfelt sincere thanks go out to,
1) All priests who have participated in the festival. 2) All the sponsors and Regional co-coordinators of the festival. 3) The North Gower community who have co-operated with us during the festival days 4) All the media that gave coverage on Utsavam - Tamil One TV , ITR Radio, Uthayan Paper, Inpaththamil paper, Senthamarai Paper 5) All the temples who have contributed Eruthu Vahanam, pots, misc. pooja items which were essential for the Utsavam. 6) All the devoted volunteers who have participated in:
* Sivan farm creation and maintenance, food production, and sales on farm products * Painting work: Interior and exterior of the temple * Renovations, shower room finishes, * Basement Storage rearrangements * Installation of Flag poles * Constructing, decorating and finishing Sagadai, Sapparam, Ther and misc. stages, * Cleaning and keeping in and around the temple tidy. * Lawn mowing, garbage and debris removals * Creating and maintaining the flower beds, gardens around the temple. * Installation of tents, temporary lighting and decoration s, * Stage and running of the Info. Booth * Annathanam Food preparation and orderly distribution * Co-ordinating children programs and devotional activities * Newsletter, Media, printing, photography, sound system, telecasting and broadcasting groups * Traffic set up and management * Cotton candy, misc. snacks preparation, packaging for sales, * Beverages, pops, water (Thanneer Pnthal) distribution services * Misc. fund raising activities

Ottawa Sivan Temple is please to announce that with the assistance of HRDC - Canada summer Jobs we will be hiring 2 Summer Students for 6 weeks for 30 hrs per week.
